We were recently called out to perform a swimming pool leak detection in Coral Springs, after the homeowner noticed the water level dropping without explanation. After performing a visual inspection with no visible signs of water, we brought out our favorite go-to tool for these types of cases—the Leaktronics PoolScope.

Using this highly sensitive listening device, we scanned the pool methodically—checking every return line, suction line, light niche and conduit, skimmer, skimmer seam and around all thru-wall fittings. No distinctive noise - no leaks. After a detailed sweep, we zeroed in on the waterline tile area.
What We Found
The issue? Gaps and missing grout along several sections of the waterline tile. These small imperfections were enough to allow water to seep through steadily, leading to noticeable loss over time.

The photo above shows the dye test in action—highlighting active water movement through a compromised grout joint. Even a hairline gap can become a leak path if left unsealed.
Why This Matters
What may look like normal wear and tear can actually be the root of significant water loss. Over time, these leaks can lead to tile damage, erosion, and unnecessary water and chemical costs.
This is exactly why routine inspections and professional leak detection matter. With the right equipment and a trained ear, we’re able to detect and resolve issues before they become major repairs.
